Soba in the Summer Garden

Join Sonoko Sakai on Saturday, July 18th at 11:00AM PST / 02:00PM EST for a 105 minute (1hr. 45min) online workshop on the art of making traditional Japanese Soba from scratch. In this workshop, you’ll review making Nihachi-style (80% buckwheat flour, 20% wheat flour) and Juwari-style (100% buckwheat flour) noodles. After making our own soba noodles, you will make a delicious walnut dipping sauce together that spotlights the true beauty of your fresh noodles. And lastly, Sonoko will forage in her backyard garden, gathering ingredients for a summer harvest salad with a lemon-miso dressing. If you find you’re not in the mood for the dipping sauce, you can add your chilled noodles as the base of your summer salad instead! You’ll complete this class with new knowledge of the Soba making process, a complete meal, and two delicious recipes for enjoying your fresh soba noodles.
